What IS Assetto Corsa?
Assetto Corsa is an incredibly realistic racing simulator developed by Kunos Simulazioni, first released in late 2014 for Windows. It offers an incredibly accurate physics engine as well as many officially licensed cars and tracks. The game also offers modding support, allowing for custom content to be added into the game, either by the developers or by members of the community. Assetto Corsa is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
How do I get started Drifting in Assetto Corsa?
Getting started with drifting in Assetto Corsa is relatively easy if you have the right setup.
First and foremost, for the most realistic feel you’ll want to make sure you have a racing wheel. There are so many options and feels when it comes to racing wheels. Personally we believe getting something like the Logitech G29 or Logitech G920 is a great place to start. It comes with everything you need to start ripping around the track.
Secondly, you will want mods, lots and lots of mods. Installing “Content Manager”, a tool that allows you to easily install and manage mods/Assetto, is the best place to start. Content Manager is free to use, but you can donate to support the development and gain some additional functionality.
Now what mods should you get? There are hundreds of different car and tracks that offer completely different styles and feels. Personally, our 2 favorite car packs at the moment are the WDT () and ADC () car packs. These both offer a fairly realistic feel and style, so they’re a great place to start!
Similarly, picking a track can be its own challenge. There are so many to choose from it can be a bit overwhelming. We recommend searching for you local track! There might be someone local (or not) that thought your local track would be cool to drive and built it for Assetto Corsa. Not sure what your local track is and in the US? Check out some events in your state!
Finally, get out there and drive!
